Hello everyone! Greetings! I’m taking the opportunity while the Denver Nuggets are hot favorites to win the championship this year to share this review. In March of this year, I had the chance to travel to Denver, USA for a conference, and I was fortunate enough to visit this beautiful city for four days and three nights. The last time I was here was many years ago for skiing, and I only stayed at the Denver airport before heading straight to the ski resort. I didn’t have the chance to explore the city of Denver back then, so this time, I made sure to take the opportunity to walk around and explore!
As soon as I landed at the airport this time, I noticed the unique ceiling design with special fabric. It looked quite distinctive from the outside. According to my esteemed leader’s tip, it is a tribute to the terrain of the Rocky Mountains in the United States. Just look at those winding lines, don’t they remind you of the contours of the Rockies? Let’s give a thumbs up to the designer’s craftsmanship!
Because I fell into the Hyatt Globalist membership “pit” starting last year (haha), whenever I search for hotels, I try to find brands under the Hyatt portfolio. This time, I chose to stay at Thompson Denver, a Hyatt-affiliated property located very close to the conference venue. The website positioned it as a luxury boutique hotel in downtown. So, does Thompson Denver live up to its reputation? Let’s continue reading to find out!
Location, Surroundings, and Hotel Infrastructure
Thompson Denver is located in a prime location in downtown Denver. It sits at the intersection of 16th Street Mall and Market Street, making it a highly sought-after area. Within a 5-minute walk from the hotel, you can reach the famous attraction, 16th Street Mall, while Union Station, Larimer Square (a pedestrian street), and Coors Field Stadium (home of the Denver professional baseball team) are all within a 20-minute walk. The location is incredibly convenient, allowing you to explore the city center without the need for a car. The overall architectural style of the hotel follows a boutique approach, with buildings that may not be towering but exude a sense of craftsmanship in every detail.
If you want to visit state parks around Denver, such as Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, you will either need to find an Uber/Lyft or rent a car to get there.
(According to local residents, the area near the Colorado State Capitol is not very safe, so it is advised not to walk alone in that area after dark.)
Thompson Denver, which opened in 2022, is a relatively new addition to the Hyatt family of hotels. Its interior design follows a subtle and sophisticated style, reflecting a low-key yet elegant ambiance. The hotel lobby is spacious, well-lit, and features high ceilings, creating an inviting atmosphere without overwhelming guests with excessive luxury.
Mile High Suite
People often say that once you enter a Hyatt, you’re hooked for life, and this time was no exception. The hotel pleasantly surprised us by upgrading us to the Mile High Suite located on the 11th floor, and we couldn’t be more grateful. So let’s dive into the walkthrough of the Mile High Suite!
Below, you’ll find the footage I captured during my room walkthrough. Please excuse any camera shakes caused by my excitement.
Specialty Hotel Restaurants – Chez Maggy
Regular hotel restaurants often lack memorable experiences, but I assure you that Chez maggy at Thompson Denver is not one of them! Chez Maggy is a charming French restaurant, and rumor has it that its head chef is Michelin-level (as stated on their website).
Chez Maggy also serves as the breakfast restaurant for Thompson Denver. Hyatt Globalist members can enjoy a daily complimentary breakfast credit of $70 here. On weekends, they offer a brunch menu starting at 11 am, which means you can use that $70 credit to indulge in their signature dish, the baked Escargots.
Now, let me show you through pictures why having breakfast or brunch at Chez Maggy is the best choice for you.
Another classic dish worth mentioning is the Duck Breast à l’orange, which receives rave reviews from many on Yelp. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the opportunity to experience the dinner portion of the restaurant during our visit, so we didn’t personally taste it. The image shown is sourced from the internet.

When visiting Denver, how could one miss the opportunity to pay homage to the Denver Nuggets, especially if you’re a sports fan or accompanying a sports enthusiast? The Ball Arena, home to the Denver Nuggets, is conveniently located within a 20-minute walk from the hotel.
During our stay, we were fortunate enough to coincide with a game day and decided to experience the entry procedures at the Ball Arena. As we approached the arena, the atmosphere was electric, with fans eagerly gathering to support their beloved team.
Upon entering the arena, we encountered efficient and organized entry procedures. Security checks were conducted to ensure the safety of all attendees, and ticket scanning was a smooth process. The staff members were friendly and helpful, directing us to our designated seating area.
Inside the arena, the vibrant energy was palpable. The cheering crowd, the mesmerizing game, and the impressive talent of the Denver Nuggets players all contributed to an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a die-hard basketball fan or simply looking to immerse yourself in the excitement of a live sporting event, attending a Denver Nuggets game at the Ball Arena is a must-do activity.

ChoLon is a highly popular fusion restaurant located in downtown Denver. Known for its innovative cuisine, ChoLon offers a unique dining experience that combines various culinary influences. One of their standout dishes is the French Onion Soup Dumplings, which are a creative twist on a classic favorite.
These dumplings are filled with flavorful broth and topped with melted cheese, reminiscent of the rich and savory flavors of French onion soup. The combination of the delicate dumpling wrapper and the warm, comforting filling creates a delightful explosion of flavors in every bite.
ChoLon’s French Onion Soup Dumplings are a must-try for any food enthusiast visiting Denver. The End
Denver is a clean and relaxing city that offers a sense of tranquility. The downtown area is well-maintained, safe, and thoughtfully planned, with a harmonious blend of green spaces, commercial areas, and residential buildings. One of the places I enjoyed visiting was Commons Park, located near downtown. This expansive park features vast green fields and a dedicated dog park, where many young people gather to unwind and enjoy time with their furry companions. It was evident that Denver is a city that values work-life balance, and I hope to visit again in the future.
Thompson Denver truly exceeded my expectations and left me amazed. In comparison to other Hyatt properties I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing, Thompson Denver stood out for its exceptional service, attention to detail, and meticulous management. Every aspect of the property was handled with utmost care and thoughtfulness, setting a new standard for excellence.
Thank you for watching! If you have any questions or would like to share your thoughts, please feel free to leave a comment.
